गर्भवती महिला, पहिलो प्राथमिकता
Who we are, why we started, and what we believe.
Aama Surakshya Nepal began with one woman's experience of pregnancy, and a question that would not go away.
Why aren't pregnant women routinely prioritised and supported?
Aama Surakshya Nepal began with the personal experience of our co-founder, Dr. Manu Karki, and a question that stayed with her.
After experiencing five miscarriages, Dr. Manu understood deeply how vulnerable pregnancy can feel. Even at eight months pregnant, she found herself standing and waiting in a hospital queue for nearly two hours.
When she later spoke with other postpartum mothers, she realised that her experience was not hers alone. Many women shared similar experiences of feeling overlooked, waiting for care, and not receiving the support they needed.
Those conversations became the beginning of Aama Surakshya Nepal. We began with a simple belief: supporting mothers should not stop at the hospital door. It should be present in our families, communities, public spaces and everyday systems.
Every pregnant woman deserves to be seen, heard, respected and supported.
Every pregnant woman in Nepal experiences a safe, dignified and supportive environment.
To promote maternal safety and empowerment through awareness, advocacy and collaboration.
Six words we work by.
The change we want to see moves from individual support, to community behaviour, to institutional practice, to systems and policy. Our values guide every step of that journey.
